OmicSpace

A Shared Data Ecosystem for Health Innovation
OmicSpace is a common data space where diverse stakeholders in the healthcare sector—such as research centers, hospitals, public administrations, and private entities—can securely and voluntarily share and reuse data. The goal is to foster research and innovation in the health sector through shared governance frameworks that ensure data protection and uphold the sovereignty of all participants.
Key Features of the OmicSpace Ecosystem:

Why is OmicSpace Relevant?

OmicSpace is a federated health data space that enables the secure integration and exchange of clinical, genomic, phenotypic, and epidemiological data among diverse stakeholders in the healthcare sector.

The OmicSpace Project

Provides a robust regulatory and technical framework that enables advanced research in personalized medicine.

Supports the development of predictive modelsand more precise therapies based on integrated, heterogeneous datasets.

Enhances interoperability across data systems through open standards and interoperability solutions, aligning with European data space initiatives such as Gaia-X and the FAIR data framework.

Facilitates access to large volumes of high-quality data through a scalable and secure infrastructure.

Promotes collaboration between public and private entities while ensuring full compliance with data protection regulations such as the GDPR.

Optimizes the reuse of health data, contributing to the advancement of 5P medicine (predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory, and precise).

OmicSpace is a catalyst for research and innovation in healthcare.

What is the OmicSpace Project?

  • OmicSpace is a federated data space that securely and efficiently integrates clinical, biobank, and omics data
  • It drives personalized medicine by improving diagnostics and tailoring treatments to each individual patient.
  • It transforms complex biomedical data into actionable clinical knowledge to enhance healthcare delivery
  • The project is led by the Health Research Institute La Fe and the Research Foundation of the Hospital and Polytechnic La Fe of the Valencian Community
  • It is supported by the Ministry of Health of the Generalitat Valenciana

Participants

OmicSpace is a strategic initiative aimed at positioning Spain as a leader in advanced health data management
The project is funded by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Public Function through project «TSI-100121-2024-0068», under the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and is «co-funded by the European UnionNextGenerationEU»
