OmicSpace receives the Space Award for Best Social Project at the Comunicaciones Hoy Awards
The OmicSpace project is revolutionizing healthcare data management by enabling the federated analysis of clinical, genomic, and biobank information without compromising privacy. This initiative has been awarded in the 17th edition of the Comunicaciones Hoy Awards in the special category for Best Social Project.
OmicSpace is a project led by the La Fe Health Research Institute (IIS La Fe) which, through the technology multinational GMV, seeks to create a federated space for biomedical data for clinical and health research in Spain. This promotes a more interoperable, ethical science oriented toward generating tangible benefits for society.
This project securely integrates clinical, genomic, and biobank information following European standards and FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), allowing complex biomedical data to be transformed into applicable clinical knowledge. The initiative fosters the secure and ethical exchange of information between different national nodes that comprise the project, accelerating diagnoses and personalized treatments.
OmicSpace’s contribution toward more ethical biomedical research aimed at improving patients’ lives has been recognized at the 17th edition of the Comunicaciones Hoy Awards. The general manager of Secure e-Solutions, Luis Fernando Álvarez-Gascón, presented the Award for Best Social Project, which was accepted by the managing director of the IIS La Fe, María José Carrión; the coordinator of the IT Area, Javier Ripoll; and the coordinator of the Data Science Office, Lucas Espuig.
